Most people don’t lack the motivation to do something they enjoy. As small children, we didn’t need to be told twice to play with a new toy or go out and play. Even as an adult, certain activities or tasks can be undertaken easily and without effort, whereas others keep being put “on the back burner” something we really should get around to sometime. Unfortunately, these deferred tasks and activities often begin to be perceived as being too hard or too big – even the thought of starting on them can cause stress and anxiety! Our internal dialogue along with the language we use can play an important role in creating the desirability factor in almost anything contained within the landscape of our thoughts.
For example, “I should finish writing this article” has a very different effect than “I will finish this article.” Because how we think about things can impact on our perception of the satisfaction we will enjoy when we engage in them, it is reasonable to assume that if we change our thinking we will get different results. Hypnosis and NLP are wonderful tools for changing our perceptions and as a result, our motivational strategies. One or two sessions is often sufficient to break old and unhelpful patterns whilst accessing your inner abilities to just get on with it and really enjoy that feeling of achievement.
